OUR STORY

Farringdon Detached FC was formed in July 2003 by Ian Stewart and his nephew Ryan Eley. Ryan had a group of friends who had no team to play for so, they approached Ian to ask if he would he start a team at u16’s level.

From this single team, which started off the club in 2003, we have continued to grow each year. Today we have various junior teams, both male and female and a men’s team, who currently play in the Wearside League.

In May 2011, Farringdon Detached FC became a registered charity in order to help the club to secure more funding opportunities. We are now officially…

Farringdon Detached Youth & Community Football Club.

FORMER PLAYERS

Over the years, the club has had various players work their way through the local academies with the help of some great coaches. Here are some of the players to have made it to the professional level over the years…

Dane Burlace
Davis Keillor-Dunn
Jordan Hickey
Layton Watts
Ellis Stanton
JORDAN HICKEY
Jordan was picked up by Sunderland when he was 8-years old, whilst playing under his Dad as coach at Farringdon. He remained at Sunderland until he was 18-years old before moving onto Hull City and signing a professional deal. He is now with Blyth Spartans.
LAYTON WATTS
Layton was picked up by Middlesbrough academy at a very young age. He worked his way up over the years, having a brief spell at Farringdon at u14s whilst his Dad was helping run the team at Farringdon. Layton went through a bad spell with injuries in 2019 just as he was hoping to make a breakthrough at Middlesbrough.
ELLIS STANTON
Ellis was picked up at 8-years old by Newcastle United while been watched by other various academies during his time playing for Farringdon. Everyone speaks very highly of Ellis and it is hoped he may be the next star of the future from the North East, potentially following in the footsteps of Liverpool captain and Premier League winner Jordan Henderson. Incidentally, Jordan’s sister Jodie Conway, also played for Farringdon for a couple of years when Jordan was making his breakthrough at Sunderland.
